Mission to Seafarers Newcastle holds events throughout the year for fundraising for the Mission, religious ceremonies and for bringing an awareness to our community about our presence and what we do for our Seafarers.

Community Awareness

Public Engagement Speaking at various groups and functions such as Probus, Lions, Rotary, CWA and church gatherings.
Australia Day Held at Wharf Road in Newcastle. A table is set up with all our information available on what we do as a Mission so as to bring our presence into the community and create an awareness that we are here to serve our Seafarers. This is also an opportunity for people who may be interested in volunteering to learn of what we do.
Sea Sunday This is where we come together to remember seafarers and pray for them, their families and those who support them. Money is also raised to help those who work at sea, the day is celebrated with services, parades and ship blessings.
Blessing of the Fleet This is a ceremony that is held annually in Newcastle on Wharf Road at Leigh Wharf. Rev Garry Dodd, Chaplain to the Newcastle Seafarers Centre and to NCYC, provides a Certificate of Blessing to all vessels blessed and adds the vessel name to the Prayers for Seafarers.
Memorial Service This is a ceremony to remember the Merchant Mariners lost in the time of war.
